The Greensboro A’s once again found themselves down early on Tuesday, May 13 against the Rangers. Proving that “it isn’t over until it’s over,” the A’s would need all 8 innings to come back for another come-from-behind victory. The A’s won the game 5 - 4 in walk-off fashion to improved to 4 - 1 on the season.
A’s on the Mound:
Kenny Latham turned in a great performance on the mound Tuesday night, giving up just 1 run and striking out 4 through 5 innings. He earned a no decision. Sean Shanahan, making his 2008 debut, pitched the final 3 innings to pick up the victory, moving his record to 1 - 0.
A’s at the Plate:
After being held scoreless through 5 innings, the A’s scored 2 runs in the 6th inning, taking the lead on Eric Mack’s RBI groundout. Then, after falling behind again in the 7th inning, the A’s Willie Infante stole the show in the 8th.
After a double by Adam Stone to start the inning, Sean Shanahan was hit by a pitch. Then, Jeremy Cumbo singled to drive in Stone and bring the A’s within 1. After a walk to Brad Oliver to load the bases, Willie Infante singled to center, driving in Shanahan and Cumbo to win the game.
On Deck:
The A’s will be in action on Sunday, May 18th, once again taking on the Rangers. Game time is scheduled for 7 pm at Ed Price.
