4/27 Game Summary

A’s Rout Cobras, Win 9 - 0

The Greensboro A’s pitching dominated for the second straight game, allowing only 4 base runners, as the A’s routed the Cobras 9 - 0 to improve to 2 - 0 in the early goings of the rain-drenched season.

A’s on the Mound:

The two week layoff had no effect on the pitchers as Zack Culler pitched 5 brilliant innings to pick up his 2nd win of the season, allowing only 2 hits and striking out 6. Steve Shanahan came in to pitch the final 3 innings, giving up no hits and striking out 4. No Cobra batter made it past second base in the game.

A’s at the Plate:

The A’s batters once again lit up the scoreboard, scoring 9 runs on 10 hits. Keith Gantt led the way, going 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and a run scored. Jeremy Cumbo also had 2 hits in 3 trips to the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Other notables: C. Bennett- 2 R; J. Cox- 1 for 2, RBI, R; A. Day- 1 for 1, 2 BB, R; R. Smith- 1 for 2, RBI; B Willard- 1 for 2, RBI.

On Deck:

After being rained out on Tuesday, April 29th, The Greensboro A’s next game is scheduled for Sunday, May 4th against the Brewers. Start time for the game is set for 1:00pm at Leonard Rec Center.
